Ms. Nooyi is recognized for aligning PepsiCo’s customers, employees, suppliers around Performance with Purpose and generating superior financial performance for shareholders.  This session will explore the following questions:

• What changes in Pepsi’s relationships with customers, employees, and suppliers were important to achieving alignment around Performance with Purpose? 

• To what extent was “design thinking” relevant to the process?

• What were the effects on financial performance?  How did she deal with initial resistance from shareholders and Pepsi’s board?

• What metrics did she choose to measure and what was the reporting process?

• To what extent did Performance with Purpose strengthen Pepsi’s standing as a global company?

• What was her approach to managing more distant stakeholders, e.g., environmental activists, and local communities around the world?

Ms. Nooyi will take questions from the students enrolled in a new Yale SOM elective on Stakeholders, Management, and Capitalism as well as from GNAM students, faculty, and alumni.
